Science 3 — Observed, Predicted, Measured

This is the English reading copy of a Filipino grade. Grade 3 is the last MTB-MLE year, so the artifacts a class actually sees are Filipino. This page exists for observers, school heads and supervisors who do not read Filipino. Teaching from the English copies would break MTB-MLE — the learner-facing artifacts have none, on purpose.

The set for this week

Every item is a single file that opens with the Wi-Fi off. Where an artifact has no English copy, the link goes to the Filipino original, because that is the only version there is and there is a curriculum reason for that.

📘

Course Syllabus

For the teacher. The full year on the three-term calendar. All 34 CG competencies across Quarters 1 to 4, and the reason Week 3 sits where it does: a learner cannot describe a property of a thing before knowing how to observe one.

🗓️

Lesson Plan — ILAW

For the teacher. The whole five-day week in the format DepEd prescribes for filing. Day 3 is given over entirely to the trap: an opinion mistaken for an observation.

📝

Lesson Plan — Lesson Exemplar

For the teacher. Day 1 at teaching depth. A stone goes on the table in the first five minutes and the teacher refuses to settle the question until the class has measured it. Seven anticipated misconceptions.

📋

Assessment Pack

For the teacher. A Table of Specifications, three papers with keys, a weekly check, and a rubric for the quarter's performance task — which the curriculum guide requires rather than suggests.

🧮

Class Record

For the teacher. Raw scores in, grade out. It asks the teacher for the three weights, because this repository does not hold the official Key Stage 1 weighting and will not invent one. Filipino only.

🖥️

Slides

For the class. Thirteen slides, in Filipino. Shape and wording carry the meaning rather than colour alone, so the deck survives an old projector and a photocopy.

🎮

Observed or Predicted?

For the class. Three rounds of escalating demand, in Filipino. Round 3 introduces opinion — the commonest error, and the only round that cannot be won by guessing.

✏️

Offline Activities

For the teacher. Three individual and two group activities needing nothing but chalk and a board, with a named role for every member of every group so no learner is a spectator.

📄

Learner Worksheet

For the class. One A4 page per learner, in Filipino. Every observation has two boxes — what I saw, what I think it means — the same size, so neither reads as the important one.

🧾

Wall Chart

For the class. A4 landscape, in Filipino. Print, laminate, and leave up for the quarter. Legible after a black-and-white photocopy.

For the class. Ang pamantayan, sinasabi sa mag-aaral bago ang gawain at hindi pagkatapos.
