โถ Force, Motion, and Energy ยท Quarter 1
Science 9 โ Two Forces, Two Objects
Newton's third law is four words long and almost nobody believes it. If the forces are equal and opposite, why does the boat move away when you step off it? Because the two forces act on two different objects, and once that sentence is genuinely held, every apparent paradox in the topic dissolves. Until it is, no amount of repeating equal and opposite helps.
The set for this week
Every item is one file. It opens with a double-click, works with the Wi-Fi off, and copies to a phone or a USB stick.
Course Syllabus
For the teacher. The full year on the three-term calendar. All 46 CG competencies across four domain quarters โ and the reason Grade 9 opens on Force, Motion and Energy when Grade 8 opened on Life Science.
Lesson Plan โ ILAW
For the teacher. The whole five-day week in the format DepEd prescribes for filing. Day 2 is the book on the table, which is the trap the curriculum guide names in the competency itself.
Lesson Plan โ Lesson Exemplar
For the teacher. Day 1 at teaching depth. Two learners on chairs push off each other in minute eight, and the class has to explain why the lighter one moves further when the forces were equal. Seven anticipated misconceptions.
Assessment Pack
For the teacher. A Table of Specifications, two tests with keys, a weekly check, and rubrics for all four quarterly performance tasks โ which the Science guide requires rather than suggests.
Class Record
For the teacher. Raw scores in, grade out, at 20 / 50 / 30 under DO 015 s. 2026. Transmutation is a year switch, not a constant. Nothing is stored and nothing is sent.
Slides
For the class. Fifteen slides. Every force diagram names the object the force acts ON as well as the object it comes from, because that is where the whole topic is won or lost.
Name the Partner
For the class. Three rounds with drawn force diagrams. Round 2 separates an actionโreaction pair from a balanced pair on one object, and Round 3 is the tug-of-war and the boat.
Offline Activities
For the teacher. Three individual and two group activities needing nothing but chairs, a wall, a length of rope and a balloon. Every group member has a named role.
Learner Worksheet
For the class. One A4 page per learner. Every force is written in the form A pushes B, and the last item is the book on the table, which most of the class will get wrong.
Say It in Full
For the class. A different route to the same competency, not a shorter one. Four tasks, each with a worked example above it, built entirely on writing forces as complete sentences before drawing any arrows.
Wall Chart
For the class. A4 landscape, printable and laminatable. How to name a partner, the two-object rule, and the four cases where the rule looks broken and is not.

For the teacher. 7 misconceptions this week, and what to do about each.
+Observation Card
For the teacher. Eight slips to cut apart โ one per learner โ for recording their exact words.
+What Good Work Looks Like
For the class. The standard, stated to the learner before the task rather than after.
+Say It in Full โ Science 9
For the class. Science 9, Term 1 ยท Week 3. A4, photocopy-safe, answer key screen-only.
+Ten Minutes at Home: Why the Boat Moves โ Science 9
For home. A one-page home activity for Science 9, using ordinary household objects, with what to say, what to avoid, and how to tell it is working.
