Grade 5 Mathematics

Multiplying a fraction by a fraction — CG competency 8. A complete, classroom-ready artifact set, verified against the official curriculum guide. Everything here runs offline.

The idea this week has to overturn Four years of whole-number work have taught that multiplying makes a number bigger. ½ × ½ = ¼ contradicts it directly, and no amount of procedural fluency repairs the intuition. Day 1 elicits the misconception, writes it on the board, and leaves it there until a learner folds a sheet of paper and crosses it out themselves.

For the teacher — six documents

Planning, assessing and recording. Two lesson plan formats, because they do different jobs.

📋

1Syllabus

Full-year course syllabus — grade level standard, the three content domains, all four CG quarters with content and performance standards, a 33-week scope and sequence, DepEd grading weights, and a verification checklist. Flags a genuine inconsistency inside the curriculum guide itself over decimal places.

🗂️

2aLesson Plan — ILAW

The whole week, in the format you file. Intentions · Learning Experiences · Assessment · Ways Forward — the single template DO 009 s. 2026 prescribes for SY 2026–2027, replacing the DLL and the DLP. All five days, from the paper fold to word problems, with remediation and enrichment.

📝

2bLesson Plan — Lesson Exemplar

Day 1, at teaching depth. A 45-minute lesson in the MATATAG Lesson Exemplar format, timed to the minute. Seven anticipated misconceptions with scripted responses, full answer keys, three-tier differentiation, and a lesson that needs no electricity — only scrap paper.

📐

+Assessment Pack

A Table of Specifications for the term, three complete papers — Summative 1, Summative 2 and the 40-item Term Examination — with full answer keys and marking notes, a weekly written check, and rubrics for all four performance tasks that carry the 50%. Every computed answer verified before shipping.

✏️

3.3Offline Activities

Three individual options and two group options. No electricity, no devices, no budget — the only consumable is scrap paper. Group activities assign a named role to every member and work in a class of 45+ with fixed desks.

🧮

+Class Record

Enter raw scores, get the grade. Written Works 20 · Performance Tasks 50 · Examinations 30, with the examination component split ST1/ST2/TE. Carries the SY 2026–2027 adjusted transmutation and the SY 2027–2028 zero-based rule as a switch. Runs in the browser, saves nothing, sends nothing.

For the class — four materials

What the learners see, use and hold.

📊

3.1Slide Presentation

15 slides timed to the lesson plan, built around the paper fold and the area model. Keyboard, touch, and click navigation; per-slide timing hints; prints as a one-slide-per-page handout. A single HTML file — copy it to a USB stick and it works.

🎮

3.2Interactive Game

Part of a Part — three rounds: read the model, apply the rule, then reason about size without one. Every wrong option models a real error, so the feedback names the mistake instead of marking a cross. The Teacher Panel reports per-round accuracy and tells you which round's weakness matters most.

📄

+Learner Worksheet

The one artifact a learner actually holds. Printable A4, one page: two grids to shade, five products, word problems, comparisons, true-or-false, and an inverse challenge. The two shadings differ by hatch direction, so it survives a black-and-white photocopy. The answer key is on screen for you and absent from the printout.

🖼️

+Wall Chart

A printable A4 landscape reference for the wall — the three-step method, the rule, a twenty-product table, when the rule of thumb fails, and how to handle whole and mixed numbers. Also available as PDF and HTML.

Verified against the official CG

Standards and competencies here are quoted from the official MATATAG Mathematics Curriculum Guide (DepEd, August 2023), which is committed to this repository — Grade 5 sits on pages 22 and 44–47. Every fraction product in every artifact was checked arithmetically before shipping.

How the week fits together Day 1 runs the lesson plan with the slides — or Individual Activity 1 if there is no projector. Day 2 introduces the grid with the game's Round 1 and Individual Activity 2. Day 3 turns the grid into the rule, with Round 2. Day 4 is The Product Wall, with Round 3 and Individual Activity 3 as enrichment. Day 5 is Cooking for the Fiesta, then the weekly check.
