1 Physical property
- What the material is like.
- Colour, hardness, shine, length, whether it floats.
- You find out by looking, feeling, or measuring.
- Example: this nail is grey and 6 cm long.
"I can check this today."
2 Chemical property
- What the material can become.
- Burns · reacts · degradable · biodegradable.
- You find out by letting it happen, and waiting.
- Example: this nail rusts in water.
"I have to wait to find this out."
3 A new material was made if…
- A colour change that will not wash off
- Bubbles, fizzing, or smoke
- Heat or light given off
- A solid appearing in a clear liquid
- And you cannot get the old material back.
"Can I undo it?"
4 Everything is made of chemicals
- Water is a chemical. So is salt, sugar, and air.
- Chemical says what matter is.
- It does not mean artificial, and it does not mean dangerous.
- A label saying no chemicals is selling, not describing.
"Made of what, not made by whom."
